The Grand Hoi An Finale'

Our last night in Hoi An.....

We walked into the old town once it had cooled down a little and got ready to face the throng of people swarming in on this gorgeous place for the Luna Lantern Festival.

One last look around..... I ♥ Vietnam

At first we thought that this man had chosen the busiest/worst part of the day to trim back this tree..... but as we got closer, it turned out that he was hanging lanterns..... still not the best time to be doing it, but at least it was relevant.

Happy Hour - 12 - 9pm

Shell: Oh look at those kiddies playing on the building site

MLD:  Well, we used to play in the street in our uniform after school

As true as that is, I'm not sure it's the same thing.

This still freaks me out!

As the sun sets, the Luna Lantern Festival begins.  These people here are burning paper (representing money) as offerings.

These people were doing the same thing, however theirs got a tiny bit out of hand......

Waiting for the dinner rush.....

There were weddings galore tonight.... I bet their photos were amazing.

Then as soon as it got dark, the lantern sellers came out......

The street is filled with them.....

of all ages.....

This fabulous brother duo was fantastic.  They were there with their dad and the older of the two (on the right) was learning how to do the bargaining.

His English and his maths were amazing and he was a ruthless salesperson.... but we wore him down.

The poor little boys were obviously a little bit tired, and bored....

But how gorgeous are they?

All the lights are turned off except for the lanterns which are really pretty to wander the streets by...

It does however bring the crowds....

The people lower the lanterns in the river and it is meant give you good luck.

It was quite beautiful to watch them floating along, however it was difficult to get a spot on the bridge to take a decent photo where you weren't being jostled

The Japanese Bridge - all lit up.

Once we'd had our fill of the lanterns we headed to the night market for more lanterns.....
